Unbendium Bulge: A band of material added at the ideal place on rim sidewalls to counter torsional and lateral flex. This rib-mid-line at the widest point provides integrity for greatest strength benefit at minimal weight. Wear Indicator: Groove in the braking surface of the rim that indicates when the rim needs to be replaced. Safety Seal: Two raised bumps inboard of the horizontal shelves that locate the beads of a tire on its inside diameter. These slightly higher bumps along with the positive inner diameter location of the bead help to retain the tire from getting pulled away from the hook during heavy lateral loading.
